Why Trimming Matters Beyond Looks

Overgrown trees and shrubs aren't just an eyesore — they can pose real hazards. Dead or weak branches are the first to come down in a storm, and when they're over a roof, a car, or a neighbour's property, the consequences are costly. Regular trimming removes the risk before it becomes a problem.

The Right Time to Trim

Most deciduous trees and shrubs are best trimmed in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. This minimizes stress on the plant and gives it the whole growing season to heal. Some flowering shrubs are better trimmed immediately after they bloom. When in doubt, call us and we'll advise for your specific plants.

Shaping vs. Hard Pruning

Shaping maintains the natural form of a tree or shrub and removes crossing, dead, or damaged branches. Hard pruning — cutting back significantly — can rejuvenate an overgrown shrub but needs to be done correctly to avoid permanent damage. We assess each plant before deciding on the right approach.

Cleanup Included

All cuttings and debris are cleared and removed from the property as part of every trimming job. We don't just drop branches and leave — the property is left clean.
